Medications

Interview with Freya, Jen and Cathy

JM: Did you always have access to necessary medications?
Freya: no--you have to go during med call.
Jen: yes
Cathy: No, not "always". Med cart came through 3 times a day. You were not allowed a pain reliever without prior authorization, so you had to plan on when to have headaches in order to get something to relieve the pain. That never made sense to me.

JM: How did you get your medications?
Freya: Walk to another building.
Jen: a nurse brought them on a cart, 3 times a day.
Cathy: Through the med cart on the weekends and in the evenings. In the morning, I stopped at medical on my way to booking to be released for the day to go to work

JM: What types of punishments were incurred for abuse of drugs? Did you ever witness this?
Freya: don't know
Jen: Solitary confinment, or Max.
Cathy: I never witnessed anybody busted for using drugs.
