JM: What else would you want a friend or family member to know if they have a loved one going to this jail? Pat: Stay to yourself, get into reading and most
importantly, spend as much time in the law library
researching your case until you know it back to
front. no one, even a lawyer and especially a
public defender will care about your outcome like
you will. Sam: Be patient, and be understanding. Your loved one
will deal with many things that you can't expect
to understand. Just be there for them mentally
and emotionally as best as you possibly can.
JM: If somebody knows they will be serving time in this jail what is your advice to them? Pat: if you are a substance abuser, don't take any kind
of supervision because you will never make it
through. Finish your time and be done with it
instead of dragging through the different parts of
the system. Sam: Make sure you have contact information for anyone
you want to keep in contact with. Don't harass
your loved ones and others you keep in contact
with as they don't understand much of what you'll
experience, and remember that they did not put you
in there. Take responsibility for your actions
that landed you in there, and be focused on
bettering yourself for when you get out.
JM: Please list any other jail or rehab facilities you have been to. Pat: somerset, essex, mercer, craf, southern state,
yardville, turning point plus some faciilites in
other states. Sam: Mountainview Youth Correctional Facility
Albert C. Wagner Correctional Facility
Garden State Correctional Facility
Bayside State Prison
