Meals

Interview with Ryan and Kathryn

JM: How many meals did you get per day?
Ryan: we would get 3 meals per day
Kathryn: 3 meals

JM: How would you rate the food? Please give details of why.
Ryan: the food was awful. always undercooked, never enough of it, mostly carbs, and usually served at room temperature or cold. the food in the medical ward was even worse then in general population. we were mostly fed beans and rice. when we had meat it was slimy and gross. we also had a limited time to eat the food
Kathryn: The food at Morris County was really bad. It was worse than processed, it was just horrible

JM: Did you have any favorite/least favorite meals?
Ryan: least favorite meals was the "turkey". it was a slimy gross peice of meat. My favorite meal, if any, was tacos
Kathryn: A couple times a month they had real baked chicken, that was my favorite, the worse was this fish patty that a dog would not eat

JM: Were there any other snacks offered outside of meals? What was commissary like and how expensive was it?
Ryan: yes they had a commissary at this jail. It was VERY expensive. A ramon soup that would be under 25 cents in the real world was over 1.25 in the jail. Everything was marked up really badly.
Kathryn: All snacks were from commissary. It was very expensive, and it came once a week
