Closing Advice

Interview with Tom and Abe

JM: What else would you want a friend or family member to know if they have a loved one going to this jail?
Tom: Feed them as much as you can bfore going in. Its not a rough jail, food is terrible. Most important thing you can do is write letters. Visita can be good but they can also be too emotinal for some guys who bring that back into the jail.
Abe: They should become familiar with visitation schedule and policies. They should also be aware of the consequences for breaking the rules. Family should also have a list for what IS and IS not acceptable items for you to receive from the outside

JM: If somebody knows they will be serving time in this jail what is your advice to them?
Tom: Keep your mouth shut. Be respectful and don't tell on anybody.
Abe: Mind your own business and follow all rules, regulations and directions from the deputies as well as civilian jail staff. Reading and excercise is a good practice for occupying time.

JM: Please list any other jail or rehab facilities you have been to.
Tom: Monroe, Elmira, Lakeview
Abe: Monroe County Jail, Livingston County Jail, Tompkins County Jail
