JM: How often could you receive visitors? Mary: Once a week - for 30 mins total. usually during
that time you only got to see 2 people. D Bo: once a week and sometimes the visits were not even
the full 30 minutes. Joel: You were allowed one visit per week. Two adults and
one child was the maximum persons allowed. The visit
was for thirty(30) minutes. Trevor: I believe it was once a week on thursdays. But
lawyers and social workers could come anytime
JM: Was the check-in process lengthy for those who came to see you? Mary: I really don't know as I was not a part of that.
From what I heard it sounded as if they got there
quite early. D Bo: YES Joel: Yes, at times they were. It really all depended on
what officers were working that day/night. Certain
officers tended to hassle people more than others. Trevor: I only had one visit from a social worker and i
think it was probably very easy for him to come in
due to their familiarity with him
JM: What was the visiting environment like? Mary: It was both of us on a phone sitting at a desk
like thing facing each other with plexiglass in
between us. D Bo: It was terrible because they rush your visit. You
have to talk really fast. Joel: No privacy. You had to talk through telephones
while looking through thick glass. It was
horrible. You could actually hear other
inmates/visitors conversations on the phone you
were on. It's like they were all crossed. And when
you only get one visit per week, those 30 minutes
seem more like 10 minutes. Trevor: it was a small 10 by 10 room with a window between
you and the visitor and you talked on telephones.
there was, of course , no physical contact between
visitors and detainees. the guards walked by as
you were talking to the person visiting you but I
don't think they could hear you
