Interview with Mary

JM: How many different blocks were there?
Mary: Im not sure I do know that women were on the bottom there is a set of bars that separate the officers from us down the block. I heard that there were 3 more blocks for men but that was here say.

JM: Did they have names? If so, what were they?
Mary: They were by letter. A block, B block, C block etc

JM: Which types of inmates were housed in the different blocks?
Mary: I cant vouch for the men the women were all together. and we had murderers to trespassing violations they were shoplifters. The women were of all walks of life. drug users mainly. but then you have the fighters black, white hispanic

JM: What do you remember being the nicest and worst parts about the different blocks?
Mary: nothing nice. its dark, the corners are dirty. the mats are old. the towels are rough. the bars are dirty. its just an awful experience. There were two phones and you have to call collect which people usually dont have house phones so it is hard to contact your family
