Telephones

Interview with James, Jerry and Troy

JM: Did you have regular access to telephones?
James: Nope
Jerry: In my case I did not have acess to phone nor mail.
Troy: Yes if you call it that! call anyone was if you remembered their phone number by heard and paid for an expensive service!

JM: What types of charges applied for calling people? How much money would you guess the average inmate spends per week on phone calls?
James: not too much I talked to my grandma for 20 minutes for like 5 bucks
Jerry: For being held on transfer I did not have phone rights A a a a a
Troy: Unsure, phone for all and in my experience the only one who could pay for a call was the one to whom it was being made. They had to pay a service...a real scam in itself. Or the person had to be approved for a call from their phone company to receive a collectd call.

JM: Did you need to buy phone cards to call out?
James: No its collect calls only
Jerry: This one I do know. An no you don't need them but can get them
Troy: Not an option at the time

JM: Did the jail screen your calls?
James: Yes, I think
Jerry: As far as I know they do
Troy: Im sure they did or at least monitor them, which was ok by me.
