Interview with Lola, Eve, Pat, Peter, Al, Trevor and Camille
JM: Did you get off early based on good behavior? Lola: Yes. Weekly trips to the counselor suggested
early release. A month before my early release,
I was sent to the trailers which allows more
visits, and better food. Eve: No. Pat: yes Peter: My sentence was straight time only no good time was
applied at all. Al: yes i got 5 days a month for good behaior which i did Trevor: no there was no good time or anything like that
for my charges Camille: No, I did not get off early based on good behavior.
I got out because someone decided I would be
released, at their whim. Yes, this is America.
JM: What is the most time off you can receive for good behavior? Lola: 1 month Eve: Don't know. I know there are several programs in
place that you can attend that will help give you
time off. Pat: 5 days a month Peter: According to YCP handbook it was 1-2 days off for
every 30 days of good behavior, as long as the set
guidelines were met. Al: 5 days a month is the most Trevor: 5 days a month I believe. Camille: I have no idea what the most time is someone can
receive for good behavior.
JM: What types of actions do you need to avoid in order to get time off? Did you ever witness somebody losing time off for good behavior? Lola: No fights, always showing up for count, chores
needed to be done, and no complaints from guards. Eve: Fights with inmates, being written up by the
guards, missing medications or just not following
the program. Pat: you cant get sent to BAU get right ups and you
have to be good Peter: Fights, insubordination, not following ( if
charges were drug related) Rehab style counseling
meetings AA meetings misses if required to attend,
as well as Anger Management Classes if recommended
to attend. If all these were completed
successfully good time was issued if not
successful good time was taken away. I witness
about two getting time taken away but many
receiving it for good behavior. Al: yes i have seen people get in fights and then
rumor would be that they did not get out on there
relase date and had to stay however long
determined by the jail Trevor: fighting or getting written up, pretty much
anything the guards don't like. they will write
you up for anything and if they are having a bad
day and you get in trouble they will make you do
something. Camille: I guess if someone were able to get off for good
behavior in York County Prison, they would have to
follow all the rules and not get into any verbal
altercations with guards or other inmates. I
can't say I witnessed someone losing time for good
behavior, but I did witness women being sent to
the hole for not following the rules or ignoring
an instruction from a guard.
