Meals

Interview with Virginia and Shaun

JM: How many meals did you get per day?
Virginia: 3 meals a day which u dont eat until your starving.
Shaun: I got three meals a day

JM: How would you rate the food? Please give details of why.
Virginia: It was ok if it was something that didnt have to be cooked but anything needed to be cooked or warmed was never done right.Tasted terrible and wasnt cooked through, sometimes the bread was molded too and the milk tasted funny. None of the meat was right it was all mystery.
Shaun: The food was terrible, even though they fed us three meals a day none of the meals were worth eating. If you have money on your canteen you could buy food and wouldnt have to eat theirs. the food is maybe a 3.. just because you can eat it even though the taste sucked.

JM: Did you have any favorite/least favorite meals?
Virginia: I hated thhe chicken liver and the oatmeal for breakfast. The cereal is fine because we knew what it was.
Shaun: My favorite food in jail was the food I actually bought. I hated the grits and oatmeal they had served.

JM: Were there any other snacks offered outside of meals? What was commissary like and how expensive was it?
Virginia: Yes if you had someone on the outside send you money you could buy snakes on the canteen. They were costy though. Its almost like the inmate are being punished but really your punishing the family sending the money,=
Shaun: Yes you could buy snacks through the canteen and yes they were very costly. It was worth it though if you had the money to buy it. Some inmates sont have money to buy food off the canteen.
