JM: What types of facilities were available to help pass the time? Chris: We had the rec.court at the work release facility
the we could go out on anytime during the hours of
8am and 10pm. We had a ping pong table out there.
It was falling apart but we was still able to use
it. and they refused to replace it and a few of us
knew that they had new ones in storage at the main
jail. Every once in awhile they would ask if we
wanted to go out to play basketball. We also had a
few books to read if we wanted.
JM: Did you have regular access to the entertainment or was competition fierce? Give details. Chris: Yes there was regular access to the ping pong
table as long as we had ping pong balls to play
with. As far as the basketball I felt that there
was to many people out there at one time so I
never went out to play.
JM: Did you have a hard time staying in shape while in jail? Chris: If you just sat around yes you would. Those of us
in the work release facility could go out on the
rec court and do like sit ups and push ups and
walk the border of the rec court to help stay in
shape.
JM: How often did you get to go outside? What did you do outside if you were allowed to? If you were not allowed to go outside what could you do for exercise? Chris: If you worked in the jail and was at the work
release facility you got to go outside almost
everyday to go back a forth between the work
release facility and the jail. As far as to go out
for rec. it was only like every 2 weeks for about
30 mins.
JM: Did the jail offer church services? If so, what were they like and when were they held? Chris: Yes they offered it and I think it was every Tues.
I am not really sure what it was like cause I
never went to it and cause they really didn't
announce it very well. The speaker system they
used to announce things like that really didn't
work all that well.
