Visitor Policy

Interview with Seth, Ellen and Isaac

JM: How often could you receive visitors?
Seth: once a week if you did get them which i would not let anyone come see me
Ellen: ONLY ON SAT OR SUN FOR OUR DORM AND WE HAD TO SPECIFY EXACT TIMES AND NAMES
Isaac: Once classified you can receive visits once or twice a week, depending on your unit.

JM: Was the check-in process lengthy for those who came to see you?
Seth: very fast depend who the officer was if you had a officer who was a butt hole it might take hour or so to get processed in
Ellen: IT WAS NEVER MENTIONED BUT I HAVE VISITED AT ANOTHER JAIL BEFORE AND IT WASN'T THAT BAD. JUST HAD TO HAVE ID AND SHUT PHONE OFF
Isaac: I did not receive a visitation while at this jail so I can not answer that question. However, from previous experiences I can say that the visitation process is relatively lengthy.

JM: What was the visiting environment like?
Seth: behind window had to talk on the phone i never got visits so i could not really explain this because i did not want my family to worry and when they would leave they would cry and still be very disappointed because i would not get to go home with them
Ellen: ROWS OF COMPUTER MONITOR LIKE MACHINES AND HARD CHAIRS. YOU HAD TO TALK THROUGH A PHONE RECEIVER AND IT WAS ALWAYS STATICKY SO YOU HAD TO REALLY STRAIN TO HEAR AND UNDERSTAND. THEY WERE MONITORED AND RECORDED. WE WEREN'T ALLOWED MORE THAN AN HOUR OF A VISIT AND OTHER INMATES COULD HEAR
Isaac: Visitation is held in the unit where you reside. You and your visitor sit on opposite sides of a thick window. Some have telephones you can speak through but some only have ventilation holes which can make it difficult to understand one another during your visit. Sometimes there would be crying babies and people shouting at each other.
