Inmates

Interview with Charlie, Don and Pierce

JM: Did you find it difficult to get along with other inmates? Please give examples to explain why you did or didn't.
Charlie: Many inmates do. There are quiet tanks where everybody in the tank just wants to serve their sentence and get out, and there are noisy tanks where everybody wants to party or fight or cause trouble 24/7. Each tank has a small TV set with basic local cable which is turned on in the morning and turned off at mealtimes and lights out, and usually the longest-serving or baddest inmate in the tank controls what is on at any particular time.
Don: no
Pierce: GOD put me in the best Dorm I could have got. I believe it was the only Christiam cell. It was a 4 man dorm and the other 3 guys there with me helped my build my faith in Jesus Christ.

JM: What types of things did you have to do to avoid problems or fights with other inmates?
Charlie: Never touch another inmate's possessions without permission, never awaken another inmate unnecessarily, do not be overly loud or boisterous, and keep decent personal hygiene (shower at least once a day).
Don: walk away
Pierce: Pray, Pray and Pray. I wrote a request to have a gentlemen removed from my dorm once because he was using alot of racial slurrs. I also had a guy stealing my food from under my bed.

JM: Were you able to choose an inmate as your cellmate if you knew one? How often would your cellmate(s) change?
Charlie: No.
Don: no
Pierce: No! I had no control of where I was being placed or whom i was being placed with. They call some tanks the gladiator tanks. Meaning you have to fight earn your keep.
