Closing Advice

Interview with Dorothy

JM: What else would you want a friend or family member to know if they have a loved one going to this jail?
Dorothy: I would like them to know that if you can write them as much as often it really helps the person doing their time. If you have communication with someone on the outside it really helps to keep your sanity. It also lets you know that someone still cares about you and has not given up on you yet. When you hear your name called for mail call if makes your day so much better!! Trust me I know!!

JM: If somebody knows they will be serving time in this jail what is your advice to them?
Dorothy: I would tell them to get prepared to have a lot of time to think about your life and how you ended up into jail. Be prepared to face challenges ever day of happiness, sadness and depression. Often times you think you can handle things but once you have all your freedom taken away you will realize that the free world is not so bad!! Try to stay positive because they cannot keep you forever unless you have a life sentence. I tried to focus on what I was going to do once I got home and regain that lost time with my family and get back to work.

JM: Please list any other jail or rehab facilities you have been to.
Dorothy: I have also been to Dallas County Jail
