JM: What types of facilities were available to help pass the time? Randy: There was a pretty big swimming pool, a nice gym,
many basketball courts, and a couple football
fields. There was a baseball field and a soccer
field as well. Along with that there was a little
gym, and a movie room. The best part was the
"incentive room", which had DirecTV, video games,
and a few table games such as Foosball, and ping
pong.
JM: Did you have regular access to the entertainment or was competition fierce? Give details. Randy: Each unit would take turns each week going to the
different facilities. The incentive room however
was reserved for those with excellent
behavior(which I got into), and competition for
that was not bad considering most people there did
not have very good behavior and acted up many
times. The pool and sport fields were granted to
everyone, as long as you were not causing too much
trouble.
JM: Did you have a hard time staying in shape while in jail? Randy: Nope. I was able to workout a lot in my cell. Push
ups and sit ups can do a lot if you stay committed
and do them every day. Besides that, there was the
gym which helped a lot as well.
JM: How often did you get to go outside? What did you do outside if you were allowed to? If you were not allowed to go outside what could you do for exercise? Randy: We went outside at least once a day every day for
rec. We had about an hour to play sports or do
whatever. If we had to stay in, we had rec on the
unit and just did large muscle exercises, then
usually just watched a movie.
JM: Did the jail offer church services? If so, what were they like and when were they held? Randy: Yes. There was chapel which went on 4 times a week,
for different religions. Since I am not religious, I
never attended chapel, and they respected that. I
just stayed on the unit and read or drew.
