Inmates

Interview with Henry

JM: Did you find it difficult to get along with other inmates? Please give examples to explain why you did or didn't.
Henry: I didn't find it very hard to get in with the others. Of course over the course of my sentence there was a few arguments and altercations, mostly over just space and comfort. You can't put that many men in a tight space in such bad conditions and expect everyone to get along though...its just not gonna happen.

JM: What types of things did you have to do to avoid problems or fights with other inmates?
Henry: It's actually relatively easy to avoid problems with other inmates. Just show respect to the ones who deserve it, avoid the ones who don't, and mind your own business at all times. As long as you stay to yourself and out of other inmates business everything will be okay in most cases.

JM: Were you able to choose an inmate as your cellmate if you knew one? How often would your cellmate(s) change?
Henry: There are no cells in FCDC Unit Two. It's open barracks divided into four different pods. So that means that pretty much every one of the hundred to a hundred and fifty inmates in the unit are all your cellmates.
