JM: How many meals did you get per day? Henry: You get three meals a day. Breakfast, lunch, and
dinner.
JM: How would you rate the food? Please give details of why. Henry: The food gets better the longer you are in the
facility. Just because you get accustomed to it
and you get progressivly hungrier the whole time
your there. They have the same exact menu every
week, so you always knew what to expect once you
learned the routine and schedule. Some days are
better than others, but the food is not good at
all. I grew to like it after a while, but that
was just because it kept me alive. I wouldn't
feed those trays to my dog out here.
JM: Did you have any favorite/least favorite meals? Henry: It's pretty hard to remember at this point. I
usually didn't like breakfast any days because
it was always either bland runny oatmel or
grits. I think my favorite meal was either the
fish sandwiches that they serve for lunch on
Thursdays or the hot dogs they served for dinner
on Wednesday nights.
JM: Were there any other snacks offered outside of meals? What was commissary like and how expensive was it? Henry: There was no other food outside the three meals
a day unless you ordered snacks on commissary.
The commissary only really consisted of mostly
hygeine items and stuff like that. The only food
they really had on there was junk food. The only
real options for food on commissary was chips,
candy bars, or snack cakes that were way
overpriced. I usually didn't order much food off
the commissary, just hygeine items and stamps.
They make a lot of money overcharging on items
in that facility I would guess.
