Interview with Albert, Borata, Keith, Jon, Innocent17, Acer, Taz, Will and James
JM: Tell us about the pre-sentencing process: Albert: I FOUGHT MY CASE WHILE BEING OUT ON BAIL. Borata: Was originally charged with residential burglary
on 10/19/08 by Sgt. Llewelyn. 2 other police
officers present. Gomez and Gunn. Also present
when sent to Olive View Medical Ctr. was
Llewelyn, Gomez, and Gunn. Was sent to OVMC
about 2 weeks prior to being sent to Burbank
County with residential burglary charge for
kicking next door neighbors door in unit 401.
Door did not open, nor even set foot on the
stoop of the front door. Old lady came out
yelling and screaming at me as I went into my
unit (which I own BTW), and went back into her
unit. Keith: I was in jail, being transported to and from the
courthouse for my trial. You are woken up at 3 AM
to be moved from your housing location to a
holding cell to wait for the bus. Jon: I was convicted for a first time DUI offense. My
lawyer got two continuances until I had to
surrender for the 30 day jail sentence. Innocent17: There was no pre sentencing. I was picked up on
two bench warrants that weren't mine. Acer: Was accused of a kidnapping carjacking when I got picked up
got add. Charges of heroin distribution and poss of firearm Taz: Was sent to Chino to 90 days. Was able to work while
there as a Clinical Receptionist thanks to an
inmate who recognized me from being a trustee at L A
County Jail. Will: I first was at Long Beach City jail for about 48-72 hours. Then from
there I was before a judge to receive my sentence. After that, you
got processed into county jail which seems like an eternity. It's a
long and tedious process just to get into a cell or dorm James: The county jail is very over crowded so that
means the process is very extensively long.
Average time is approximately 12 hours. Inmates
are treated like cattle being prepared for
slaughter. You would be lucky to be fed during
the processing. Once your finished with the
processing then you will be placed in a temporary
housing for a few days.
JM: Did you have police stop by your house for questioning? If not please give us details on how you came to be arrested. Albert: ONLY WHEN THEY ARRESTED ME, IT WENT TO COURT
FROM THERE. Borata: Yes, 3 cops came into my unit while I was in the
master bedroom. Don't know how they got in
because I asked and I know I locked the door!
They arrested me w/o reading my rights. Only
when I was being booked and fingerprinted was
when I realized what I was being charged with.
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dennis
Miniken was able to get a hold of Mitch Ross,
detective assigned to my case. Apparently, he's
aware of my case and took it off the hands of
Detective Sindle and Gomez. Dennis spoke with
him and said that if no one is going to do do
something about my situation that the state of
CA will. Dennis adviced me not to ever contact
Mitch Ross ever gain. (look at BCCU). My

I pray for all of you to come down off y ou high
and mighty horses!!!!!!! Keith: I was in jail. Jon: No Innocent17: No. I was picked up as a passenger after I gave
them my ID. Acer: Hell yea.. at least 10 cop cars and a helicopter came to pik
me up in north hollywood.. they were the sheriffs all the way
from the carson station kuz thas my neighberhood where
the crime supposedly occured .. Taz: Was arrested by detectives while at the hospital. Will: I basically stole a small bumper piece from a car at the Del Amo
mall. Mall security spotted me in the act, I ran away but towards the
mall. I trapped myself inside a department store where the security
cornered me and had Torrance Police department escort me to the
station. James: Yes the police arrested me in the front of my
house. They were staking my house out for a few
days due to my 150,000 dollar bail warrant. Once
I exited my house I went to my car which was
parked on the street. Two police cars came from
both ends of the street with guns drawn.
JM: What was court like? Please give as many details as you recall. Albert: WHEN I WAS OUT AND FIGHTING THE CASE IT WAS
COOL, WHEN YOU ARE INCARCERATED THE COURT
APPERANCES ARE HELL. THE SYSTEM IS PRETTY
SCREWED UP, THEY WAKE YOU UP AT LIKE 3AM AND YOU
WAIT IN A HOLDING TANK FOR LIKE 1-2 HOURS THEN
GET ON A BUS, I WAS COMING FROM PITCHESS
DETECNTION CENTER IN CASTAIC CA, SO WE THEN WENT
TO L.A COUNTY JAIL UNLOADED THE BUS AND WENT TO
A CELL THERE THAT HOLDS ONLY ABOUT 20 INMATES
AND THERE WERE ABOUT 40 INSIDE THE CELL
(HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE). ONCE YOU ARRIVE TO YOUR
COURT DESTINATION YOU WAIT IN A HOLDING TANK
BEHIND THE ACTUAL COURTROOM ALL DAY UNTIL YOUR
CASE IS HEARD FOR LIKE 10 MINUTES. FROM PERSONAL
EXPERIENCE I SEEN REPEATED CRIMINALS TAKE THE
FIRST DEAL THEY ARE OFFERED IN COURT BECAUSE OF
TEH WHOLE COURT EXPERIENCE BEING SO LONG AND
EXCRUCATING TO THE MIND AND BODY. Borata: never got one. had representation or so I
thought on the day I was picked up on 12.1.08.
Court was 10:30 am and was told by Atty. Barry
Hammond in front of friend (witness) Dennis
Miniken that I do not need to appear and that he
will be taking care of it because it is going to
be an ongoing process. Same day, roughly
around 7 pm, I was picked up by man and woman
dressed in civilian clothes and was told I will
be going home in 1 hour and that I was under
arrest for failure to
appear???????????????????????????????????????????
??????????????????????/ Go to hell with all
that cow turd!!!!!!!! Keith: At the court you wait in a holding tank in the
basement til it's time for your appearance. When
it's time for you to go to the courtroom you are
handcuffed and escorted into the court. Jon: It was very simple. The judge was aware of the
case, the prosecutor had offered her best deal and
my lawyer and I accepted their terms. Sentencing
was set and my surrender date was set for a month
later just before a holiday weekend (a great idea
by my attorney, since the jails get even more full
on these weekends). On my surrender date, I
appeared in court and was taken by the guard there
to booking. Very simple procedures. Innocent17: Awful. The holding cells are filthy. There isn't a
comfortable spot anywhere. No clock. One toilet
next to a tap water drinking fountain. Leaky
plumbing and slippery floors. COLD.
The first public defender was rude and took
offense to the fact that I mentioned I was poor,
this bitch on wheels assumed I was griping about
not being able to post bail... then the moo cow of
the judge while looking at my case said,
"it's 4:30, I'll have you come back in tomorrow to
finish your case."
The next day I'm there, they dickhead sheriffs
print me and finally when the sea cow judge sees
me, she determines it wasn't my ticket and got a
wrongful person paper. When I asked if I could be
OR'd on the meager $5000 outstanding warrant at
the other court, she says, "Don't you think I've
done enough for you?"
The Next Day More of the same. Expect instead of a
manatee, I'm dealt with a white washed Mexican
midget judge. I wasn't even trying for wrongful
defendant anymore. I figured at this point I had
served enough time to pay for this, I wanted OUT!
It was a stupid traffic warrant that MY BROTHER of
all people used my name. The Mexi midget made me
plea but I got time served.
You would think This was the end, but NO. This was
not the case. The Sheriffs wouldn't even look at
my papers. I was transfered back in to custody and
rode the bus back to county. Acer: Went to compton court.. I was glad to go there because they
have a reputation of showin love . They wake u up early as
f*k like 4 30 to eat n then put u in a bunch of diff tanks.
Thn u get on the chain n take a bus ride.. my bus ride was
long as f*k drive from wayside to compton in rush
hour.then u sit around in tanks that are segregated by race
or whoever u run with all f*kin day n are in the courtroom
for maybe 15 min tops. Only thing good about court was the
peanut butter jelly sandwich . I got lucky once n had my
court appearence before lunch so icaute the 12 o'clock bus
back insteadx of the late bus all the way back to wayside
where ur not gettin back to ur bunk until at least 8 oclock Taz: Holding cells were awful. Some guys wouldn't mind
their own business.Food was bag lunch, sandwich and
orange Will: Court was a very cold atmosphere with lots of tension and stress in
the air. Every person incarcerated was nervous to see how much
precious time they were about to give up for something they
regretted. It was a very difficult time especially if you could see your
family in the audience benches spectating. James: Court is so very drawn out. You are woken at 3
in the morning fed and then transported to the
courthouse you attend. Through out this process
is just a waiting game, being transported from
holding cell to holding cell. You get searched
from head to toe once you arrive at the
courthouse.
JM: What were your original charges? What did you end up being convicted of? Acer: Kidnapping grand theft auto heroin distribution and poss of
a firearm by ex convict ... beat all those charges except for
distribution . Was facing all day which means a life term . N I
did it with a state appointed attorney.. lil piece of advice fire
ur public pretender and get a state appointed. Taz: Original charge was 187A PC Murder. Accepted a plea
agreement for involuntary manslaughter. Will: It went from tampering with a vehicle to petty theft with a prior James: Kidnapping
False imprisonment
assault with a deadly weapon I was convicted of
Domestic violence
