Interview with Shawn, Tom, Linda, Margaret and Laura
JM: Did you get off early based on good behavior? Shawn: No and yes Tom: Yes. My final sentence was 90 days in jail cause I
could never afford the anger management classes I
needed to attend and honestly didnt want to do the
volunteer work to pay for them either. I ended up
doing 60 days instead of 90. Linda: No. I did not get out early for good
behavior. Margaret: NO I DIDNT GET ANY TIME OFF FOR GOOD
BEHAVIOR. Laura: the San Bernadino County as a whole was letting
non-violent crimes less time than normal die to
severe over crowding.
JM: What is the most time off you can receive for good behavior? Shawn: 20% of my time Tom: I think its 1.3 in the county system, 50 percent in
the prison system. Linda: I don't know how much time people get
off for good behavior. Margaret: IM NOT SURE TO BE HONEST. Laura: Hslf time, I think. Im not sure.
JM: What types of actions do you need to avoid in order to get time off? Did you ever witness somebody losing time off for good behavior? Shawn: To abide by all rules and regulations and to not
get any writeups for causing trouble Tom: Basically just follow the rules. Dont get into
fights, or any kind of conflict. Respect the guards,
and basically do your time and get out. Linda: In order to not get extra time added to
your sentence you have
to avoid getting into fights. You have to
make sure you don't
have anything you are not suppose to
have like contraband. Margaret: YOU NEED TO AVOID FIGHTING WITH OTHER
INMATES AS WELL AS FIGHTING WITH THE
CORRECTIONAL OFFICERS. YOU NEED TO
OBEY THE RULES AND LAY LOW. I HAVE
WITNESSED SOMEONE LOSING THEIR GOOD
BEHAVIOR TIME OFF. Laura: You cnt get into any fights, or any
disciplinary action taken against you. I have
witnessed plenty of peoplebeing held in
isoalation or the hole as its called.
