Interview with Shawn, Tom, Linda, Margaret and Laura
JM: How many meals did you get per day? Shawn: 3 Tom: We got 3 meals a day Linda: I got three meals per day. Margaret: WE GOT BREAKFAST, LUNCH, AND DINNER.
THREE. Laura: we got 3 meals per day
JM: How would you rate the food? Please give details of why. Shawn: poor, cold and bland Tom: The food was between decent and ok. My favorite was
an item they didnt make, it was the packets of
peanut butter. ALot of it was tasteless and required
a lot of salt and/or pepper to give the stuff some
flavor. Breakfast was difficult cause when I was at
Glen Helen, it was delivered. Linda: I would rate it a 5 out of 10. There wasn't
a lot of food. If you didn't have any money
to buy extra food through commissary
then you would be starving everyday. The
food is full of starch and makes you put
on weight. There is only like 3 bites to any
given dish. Margaret: I WOULD RATE THE FOOD AS EDIBLE
ESPECIALLY WHEN YOURE SUPER HUNGRY,
BUT DISGUSTING IF THERE WOULD BE
ANOTHER CHOICE. BREAKFAST OF
RUBBERY WAFFLES, COLD OATMEAL AND
FAKE EGGS, EWW. AND LUNCH WITH
MYSTERY MEAT SANDWICHES, THAT
CONTAIN UNIDENTIFIED BLACK AND GREEN
THINGS, GROSS. AND DINNER OF SOME
BLAND WHATEVER. NO THANKS! Laura: breakfast is bomb! the oatmeal is good, not
waking up at 4 am to get it though.lubch was
garbage, a sandwich and usuallysome kind of
nasty pasta.some dinners weregood, mostof them
were.you gotsome type of dessert with them.
Themeals were also healthy, always some kind of
vegetable.no seasonigs or extras like mustard or
ketchup though.
JM: Did you have any favorite/least favorite meals? Shawn: they were all bad. I was on a special diet,
gluten free but it was bad Tom: My favorite meal had to be breakfast. How is that
screwed up? When they served oatmeal and peanut
butter, it was great. Linda: My least favorite meal was lunch because
all it was was a sandwich and maybe a
cookie. And 2 sips of a small child's lunch
milk size. Margaret: MY LEAS T FAVORITE FOOD HAD TO BE THE
SANDWICHES. JUST THE THOUGHT OF THEM
MAKES MY STOMACH TURN. AS FOR
FAVORITE, ANYTHING NOT SERVED THERE. Laura: yep. one time for lunch we had bologna
sandwiches, and for dinner chili dogs. I hate
both of those mealsand I had them the same dat
and I cried.
JM: Were there any other snacks offered outside of meals? What was commissary like and how expensive was it? Shawn: Yes. Yould buy canteen from vendors if you had
money on your trust account Tom: Commissary was fairly reasonable for the situation
everyone was in. We had Snicker Bars, Top Rammen,
Twix bars, etc. We were allowed to get commissary if
I remember right once a week. May have been 2. Linda: Commissary was expensive! And it was
all junk food and candy and top ramen
soups. No other snacks were offered
besides the 3 meals a day. The soups are
way over priced but without them you
would starve! Margaret: I DIDNT STAY LONG ENOUGH FOR
COMMISSARY AND ALL THAT. BUT I DO
KNOW THAT IT IS KINDA EXPENSIVE
BECAUSE OUT HERE, TOP RAMENS SELL
FOR NO MORE THAT 25 CENTS A PIECE
AND IN THERE THEYRE LIKE $1 OR
SOMETHING. BUT ALL SNACKS OFFERED
WERE FROM COMMISSARY. Laura: no other snacks were available unless you
purchased them on commissary. I didnt buysnacks
because I didntwantto get fatin jail, but for
the mostpart they werent to exspensive and there
waas a pretty decent amount of choices. the
price was right around what you pay on the
outside
