JM: How many different blocks were there? Travis: I think there were 35 blocks. Grant: not sure atleast mahybe 15
JM: Did they have names? If so, what were they? Travis: There are Medium (blues), Medium Max (yellows),
Max (yellows), Administrative Segregation (reds),
and I forgot what the greens are called, they're
the mentally disordered. Grant: min 31,32,34 was all I knew and a couple maximum
cell blocks
JM: Which types of inmates were housed in the different blocks? Travis: There were medium, the safest and who did not
have to be in cells. They got more pod time and
got to go outside I think. The medium max and max
were practically the same, one had one large pod
and the other had the same pod divided into
three. Neither got to go outside. There was a
tiny basketball court some units could go to
maybe once a week. The mentally disordered were
almost the same as medium max. There was the
administrative segregation which had only one
hour pod time and by yourself so you couldn't
socialize at all (no cellmates either, although
this by itself might be preferable). Grant: min. sec where general population is at to
maximum security where violent criminals and
life sentenced inmates were housed... females are
also in these two types of cell and dorm housing
JM: What do you remember being the nicest and worst parts about the different blocks? Travis: The blues had the most pod time and got to go
outside I think. The reds could not socialize at
all. I think it would look bad in court if you
were transferred to reds. The rest were all
practically the same. Some people tried to get
into a unit such as the kitchen, but I think it
is a lot of work. Grant: it was honestly the same to me accept the dorms
in min security allowed a lil more freedom.you
could go to an actual class for school and
socialize with other inmates from different dorms
at yard time.maximum security activities were
restricted to your cell bock or cell pod only
period.
