JM: Did you always have access to necessary medications? Jen: No medical attention is a need for the facility.
There are plenty of people that need to have
medical attention. They will take you to the
nearest hospital for emergencies: seizures, asthma
attacks or other illnesses.
However, with my inhaler I was allowed to keep it
with me. Kelsey: Yes Cody: No. I was on a Methadone Detox program and no matter how many
times I told the guards they just ignored me. I was able to get
ahold of someone on the outside who got ahold of my clinic and
they brought someone in to dose me.
JM: How did you get your medications? Jen: In other situations, such as seizure meds or
insulin shots were given on a daily schedule to
meet the needs of those who had to have the meds. Kelsey: Tulare: Med cart 2x/day Cody: A nurse from the Methadone clinic would come in everyday with
my bottle and dose me separate from the people who got there
meds from the med call cart.
JM: What types of punishments were incurred for abuse of drugs? Did you ever witness this? Jen: The county would add new charges for the offense,
and at the time of being caught you are taken to
another place in the jail; not sure where I never
had it happen. What I do know is that a girl who
smuggled in contraband was removed from the
General population, and we never seen her again.
She brought in weed and tobacco. New charges were
added to her original charges and her steps for
good behavior was taken away. Kelsey: More time....new case...slap on the hand..... all
depends Cody: I really don't know. I have heard that they will just add on to your
current charges thus extending your sentence. But no I never did
witness it.
