Interview with Ford, Miss T, Reta, Julie and Hillary
JM: Did you get off early based on good behavior? Ford: No I received no good time in the county jail. I
was not eligible for good time until I reached
the CDC. Then half time kicks in. Miss T: I was sentenced 45 days and got out in 26 days. I
am not sure why I got out 4 days early but I
assume it was due to good behavior and the fact
that the jail was so overcrowded. Reta: no such thing. you can get 5 day early kicks if the jail is full and 5
or ten more days if you are a worker inmate working in the kitchen
or laundry or other area of the jail. if you go to school and are in
the school dorm you again get an early kick. If that's what they
mean by good behavior then yes. Julie: No, I was held the whole time. They said it was
because that particular jail is never full, so
they can spare the room. It was inconvinient and
frustrating seeing people who didn't behaive at
all leave earlier than you. Hillary: I dont know if the wording good behavior would
be correct, i didnt get into any trouble but i
did get out early, did 17 days verses 30
JM: What is the most time off you can receive for good behavior? Ford: I am unclear on the most time off you may receive
for good behavior. Miss T: I have no idea. Hillary: i think i heard its 5days
JM: What types of actions do you need to avoid in order to get time off? Did you ever witness somebody losing time off for good behavior? Ford: NO fighting. No drug use. No tattooing. No
destruction of property. NO theft. You must obey
all institutional rules and policies in order to
qualify for good time or time off your sentence. Miss T: I would guess you need to be respectful of the
staff and other inmates and follow rules exactly. Reta: to not get the 5 day kick if full you'd probably be one who fights
and get's a lot of write up's Hillary: I believe that you would have to follow all the
rules, listen to whatever the prison guard tells
you to do and do it quickly, avoid any fights.
