Visitor Policy

Interview with Ford, Miss T, Reta, Julie and Hillary

JM: How often could you receive visitors?
Ford: I did not receive visitors. I believe they policy was on Saturdays only. I could be mistaken on this.
Miss T: I think it was three times a week, but I only received a visitor about once a week.
Reta: twice a week two people at a time. it was 30 or 60 minutes I don't remember exactly. if you got written up though you'd lose your visits
Julie: I didn't check.
Hillary: i think you were allowed visitors 2 to 3 times a week, and yes i did have visiors

JM: Was the check-in process lengthy for those who came to see you?
Ford: From what I heard the check in was a complete violation of dignity. Visitors are subject to verbal abuse and body searches.
Miss T: I have not talked to him about that. I don't think it was though.
Reta: sometimes
Hillary: the check in time was not to lengthy, i think it took about 20 to 30 minutes total from when they checked in,but i know they were also prepared with whatever info the needed

JM: What was the visiting environment like?
Ford: The inmates visit with their guests through a plexiglass window while talking on a phone. The average visit is one hour long.
Miss T: Depressing; we had a wall of glass between us and had to talk through a phone, but I was happy to get a visitor at all!
Reta: sterile not private
Hillary: The visiting enviroment reminded me of what you would see in a movie.A long wooden row with dividers in each section a chair and a phone.A glass window is what seperates the inmates from the visitors,on the visitor side they also have wooden divider, stools or chairs and a phone to speak to you thru.
