JM: How many meals did you get per day? Ralph: 3 meals per day Rachel: When you behaved and not late getting I. Line, three Fred: you get three meals a day. Craig: They fed us what they called meals 3 times a day. Joe: Three. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
JM: How would you rate the food? Please give details of why. Ralph: horrible Rachel: Jail food, yuck, gross, It was best to have commissary so you
can order your own food Fred: alright, food, well lets just put it this way its
not your mothers cooking thats for sure. Most of
it is processed and really dont have any taste to
it and not to mention the quantity that you
receive is absolutely ridiculous. If you dont have
money to buy food from the jail you will go hungry. Craig: Don't get me started. I knew a guy who was
trustee in a certain county jail kitchen who
later told me that this jail regularly had food
boxes delivered that were CLEARLY MARKED "NOT
FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION". And it was these things
that were regularly fed to - you got it - HUMAN
inmates. Joe: The food served in the pods is terrible. They will
serve the same meals for days in a row. The
leftover officers mess food which you will receive
one meal a day if you are working is ok, although
sometimes the food served my have been several
days old. The best food you will get is if you are
working in the officers mess serving the guards,
they get fresh food everyday they work.
JM: Did you have any favorite/least favorite meals? Ralph: i liked eating the cereal and thats about it
Rachel: Breakfast was best, can't really screw up cereal Fred: i think the best was some turkey that i once had
and maybe some sort of pasta. but the meat or
sandwiches were the worst Craig: Yeah. My favorite meal was the last one I ate
before getting locked up. My least favorite were
the ones that were just meant to fill space in
the belly - nothing like starving for nutrients,
and being fed filler. Joe: The best meal you are going to get in the pods is
either a chicken or hamburger patty. The other is
peanut butter and jelly or cereal.
JM: Were there any other snacks offered outside of meals? What was commissary like and how expensive was it? Ralph: yes there was, called commisary Rachel: No, but I had commissary so didn't really care Fred: yea they had commissary they had was ok at best
but atleast you could get good smoked sausage,
cookies, ramen noodles that you can make with
anything, honey buns, chips, even beans you could get. Craig: Nope. No snacks outside of meals. You miss a
meal for WHATEVER reason - you get a sack lunch.
As far as price, a ramen noodles go 5/$1 at a
grocery store, or 3/$1 at a convenience store.
$.60 is common in jail. AFTER food NOT for human
consumption. AFTER $30 for being booked. AFTER
whatever cut is taken out just for putting the
money on the books to begin with. AFTER...... Joe: There are no snacks offered outside of your meals.
Commissary can be expensive depending on what you
order. Bags of snacks which I actually liked where
either a 1.75 or 1.90 for a 10-11 oz bag. However
coffee is expensive. Ramen noodles and coffee are
the most used forms of currency in the jail.
