Interview with Bill, Rochelle, Joyce, Mikey, Eric, Kirk, Janelle and Claudia
JM: Did you get off early based on good behavior? Bill: You can receive up to 15% off your sentence.
However, in some circumstances you are not truly
released on good behavior, but in some cases you
are released on probation for the remainder of
your sentence (This is also known as Conditional
Release Supervision) Rochelle: Yes Joyce: No, they did not offer good behavior nor early
release Mikey: you do get good behavior gain time so only had to
serve 11 days on a 14 day sentence Eric: No, my sentence was never long enough to get time
off for good behavior. Kirk: They dont give time off for good behavior, but I did
recive 5 days of gain time Janelle: No. I didn't know they had a such thing. The county is for
holding inmates for sentencing. Claudia: No. I did not complete my sentence at this fcility.
JM: What is the most time off you can receive for good behavior? Bill: All inmates must serve a minimum of 85% of sentence. Rochelle: 20 days each month out of 30 or 31 Joyce: I did not know of any time off. Mikey: 2 days a month or 65 percent of you whole sentence Eric: I think you can get almost 50% off for good
behavior. Kirk: you recieve five days a month Janelle: I have no idea about this Claudia: I don't know as I did not complete my sentence here.
JM: What types of actions do you need to avoid in order to get time off? Did you ever witness somebody losing time off for good behavior? Bill: Most of the time it's simply just fighting. In
county, officers don't have much physical contact
with inmates in any way (inmates are simply in
large cages) so there really isn't anything that
you can do that will upset an officer. Rochelle: Chores and follow the rules. Joyce: I never witnessed anyone getting time off for
good behavior. That doesnt mean it did not
happen. I was just not aware of or knew about it Mikey: just try to keep to yourself dont iritate the guards
and dont irritate any inmate dont get caught up
trading or bargening for food or other items it will
only cause problems and i witnessed myself being let
out ewarly for good behavior Eric: Obviously you need to avoid fist fights, loud
arguing, insulting others (especially a guard) and
anything illegal - such as drugs, gambling,
smuggling, sexual activity, assault of any kind,
etc. Kirk: You cannot some. You must report to work everyday.
You must shave daily and keep your shirt tucked in.
I witnessed a few people lose time for fighting or
smoking. Janelle: I never knew of this in a county jail. I did see trustee inmates
who was allowed to work for a few bucks for commissary Claudia: I would imagine fights, introducing contraband,
visiting someone else's cell, talking through the
toilet would prevent someone from receiving good
behavior points. I did witness some inmates
receiving anofficial CC: correctional action.
