JM: Which jail did you visit?
Rhea: Polk County Jail Annex at Bob Phillips Road in Bartow Florida.

JM: How long ago was your visit?
Rhea: Last week. Septermber 5th 2010

JM: How many times did you visit?
Rhea: I have visited twice a week.

JM: How do you go about making an appointment to see an inmate?
Rhea: Calling the Jail 24 hours in advance of the day of visit.

JM: How long did check-in process take?
Rhea: You have to be there half an hour in advance to check in and then you have to wait twenty more minutes before they line you up to go in the jail.

JM: Were the guards accommodating?
Rhea: No, they are very rought, they treat family members like they are criminals.

JM: What was the visiting environment like?
Rhea: Devastating, there is no contact. Is in a small rooms with boths glass on the inmate side and a metal gate on the visitors side. Phone are broken and if you have the bad luck to be assigned to a booth with a broken phone your visit is ruined and you cant do anything about it. Polk Couty Sherrifs and Correction Officers have no mercy for families of the inmates.

JM: How long was your visit? Did the guards ever allow you to take extra time?
Rhea: No, visits are suppose to be an hour at a time, since we the visitors can not wear any jewelry or watch for that matter I am quite sure that its less that the hour.

JM: What was the parking situation like?
Rhea: Fair

JM: What advice would you offer to somebody who is going to visit an inmate in this jail?
Rhea: Make sure that you do not bring any jewelry and make sure you are on time or they will definetly not let you in.
