Interview with Timmy, Michael, Lindsay and Frank

JM: Tell us about the pre-sentencing process:
Timmy: Assuming you can not afford to bond out you will go through the booking process at the booking facility in downtown Bartow across the street from the main courthouse. There is an old jail upstairs but it was really bad so they shut it down. Immediately after booking you will be transported to the Annex Jail a few miles down the street. This facility is VERY overcrowded and this will be the worst part of your stay at Polk Co Jail. Typically you will not stay here more than 30 days. Then you will be transported 25 miles or so to the new jail in Frostproof.
Michael: i was never sentenced. i got adjudication with held,case was sealed. i did however spend 4 days in that hellhole! the special needs unit for those with mental illness
Lindsay: 20 days war did not do so went to jail
Frank: IT WAS TERRIBLE AT COURT. IM GOOD GUY, NO CRIMINAL. THE JUSTICE SYSTEM IN FLORIDA COMPLETELY RUINED MY LIFE WHEN THEY SENTENCED ME LIKE THEY DID WITHOUT CONSIDERING ALL THE FACTORS!!! YOU HAVE TO APEAR MANDATORY EVEN YOU ARE JUST GOING TO KEEP FIGHTING YOUR CASE WHICH MEANS TAKING OFF WORK GETS YOU IN TROUBLE W/YOUR FOB EVRY MONTH, JUST TO END UP LOSING ANYWAY BECAUSE THE WHOLE JUSTICE SYSTEM IN FLORIDA IS CORRUPT AND ABSOLUTELY INCOMPETENT

JM: Did you have police stop by your house for questioning? If not please give us details on how you came to be arrested.
Timmy: No, I was just arrested one day and took to jail. Then violated probation and took back to jail.
Michael: they came to my place and i was arrested
Frank: YES BUT ONLY ONCE REST OF THE TIME THEY JUST HAUL YOU IN WITHOUT REGARD TO ANYTHING IF YOU HAVE ANY KIND OF PREVIOUS RECORD I LOST GOOD JOB BECAUSE THE COURT APPOINTED PUBLIC PRETENDER DID NOT I REPEAT DID NOT TELL ME THE NEXT UPCOMING COURT DATE SO THE POPO SHOWED UP AT MY DOOR WAITING RIGHT AFTER WORK TO JAIL COST ME 2000 DOLLARS AND TIME IN JAIL AND MY JOB TOTALLY BAD THEY WILL ARREAST YOU AND THROW YOU INJAIL IN POLK COUNTY FLORIDA FOR THE MOST LIL TRIVIAL THINGS SO THEY CAN MAKE $$$$$ OFF YOU FROM THE GOVERNMENT OFF YOU THE GOV GIVES THEM SO MUCH PER INMATE & THEY CUT COST EVERY WHICH WAY THEY CAN ROTTEN BOLOGNY STALE BREAD ONLY WATER DRINK TO SAVE $$$$ AND THE REST GOES INT SOMEBODY POCKET THEY ARE ALL CROOKED AND CORRUPT AN WORTHLESS!!!

JM: What was court like? Please give as many details as you recall.
Timmy: Court in Polk Co is not that bad. They seem to be keeping up with the volume better than other Florida counties. You basically see a judge within a day or two at the most within your arrest. He will only determine that you are being held in jail legally. If a bond has not been set he will set your bond according to your charge. Your next court appearance will be your arraignment where you will have an opportunity to enter a plea. This is usually within 30 days of arrest, 45 days at the most. Not guilty means you come back again later because you are going to mount a defense against the charges. Guilty means the judge will sentence you right then. First appearance is less than one minute and you should not say anything at all to the judge accept to answer his questions directly.
Michael: it was actually pretty neat. was a closed circuit link between a room in the jail and the courthouse and the judge
Frank: TOTALLY BAD I HAVE NEVER SEEN SUCH INCOMPTENCE THE COURT APPOINTED PRETENDER DIDNT EVEN NOTIFY ME OF THE COURT DATE AND I WAS ARRESTED FOR FAILURE TO APPEAR IT COST 2000$ SUCH A COMPLETE JOKE THE PUBLIC PRETENDERS THEY HAVE ARE WORTHLESS AND DONT CARE ABOUT YOU THEYRE JUST THERE TO GET PAID AND THE DA JUST AS BAD THEY DIDNT EVEN KNOW WHAT THE FACTS OF THE CASE WERE I WASNT EVEN ALLOWED TO GIVE MY SIDE OF THE STORY BECAUSE THE JUDGE KEPT TELLING ME THAT IT WOULD BE USED AGAINST ME

JM: What were your original charges? What did you end up being convicted of?
Lindsay: Driving on suspended because I refuse to pay fines issued by R* H* Lake Wales FL who is no longer a policeman, he wrote me a citation every time I would not agree to his sexual advances
Frank: I HAVE BEEN WRONGLY CONVICTED OF THE CHARGE OF AN AFFRAY WHICH THE LEGAL DEFINITION I LOOKED UP MEANS TO BE IN A FIGHT TO THE POINT TO WHICH IT CAUSES PUBLIC TERROR THE ONLY PUBLIC TERROR WAS MY NIEGHBORS AND FRIENDS SCREAMING FOR THE OTHER GUY TO GET OFF OF ME AFTER HE HAD KNOCKED ME OUT AND VERY SEVERELY BROKE MY JAW IN 3 PLACES
