Interview with Harry, Qtip, Hanna, DoneMyTime, Linda, Missy, Josh, Alex, Gary, Charlie, Melissa, Harley, Billy and Jimmy

JM: How many different blocks were there?
Harry: A pod through Z pod. There is also the infirmary.
Qtip: Im Not Sure I was In the l pod and there was l1-L6
Hanna: For the females there were 6 different blocks I think.
DoneMyTime: A-Z pods
Linda: I NEVER TRIED TO COUNT THEM BUT THERE WAS AT LEAST 6-8 ON THE FLOOR I WAS ON. I THINK.
Missy: I HAVE NO IDEA.WHY DOES THAT MATTER?
Josh: The facility is comprised on pods based on security level. I was initially assigned to Pod M-2 and later transferred to Pod L-2. Both were dormitory pods (i.e., no cells) with bunk beds and housed approximately 70 inmates. Both were more laid-back. Other pods are high security (e.g., violent offenders) and use cells.
Alex: Several.
Gary: It is the size of a prison
Charlie: I am unsure of this. Maybe 20 or more, it was a really big jail.
Melissa: This jail operates on pods, but I do not know how many.
Harley: 8 floors , 6 blocks on the floor
Billy: THERE WHERE 8 DIFFERENT BLOCK
Jimmy: 8 blocks in cobb jail

JM: Did they have names? If so, what were they?
Harry: As stated before they are alphabetically named.
Qtip: l1 l2 l3 l4 l5 l6
Hanna: B PODS 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6
DoneMyTime: Mpod etc.. Lpod etc M-6 or L-1
Linda: L 1,L2,ECT.
Missy: YES I DONT KNOW ALL OF THEM BUT I CAN NAME A FEW.THERES ALFA,BRAVO,CAPPA,DELTA,AND G,L,M,O,THE REST I DON'T KNOW ABOUT.
Josh: I believe the pods are distinguished by letters (e.g., Pod A) and by number (e.g., Pod L-2). The letter indicates security level and each Pod has 5 or 6 divisions (e.g., Pods M-1 through M-5).
Alex: Letters followed by direction then numbers.
Gary: a-l
Charlie: The names of the different blocks were labeled as letters. Like D block, A block, C block, etc.
Melissa: I believe I was in pod A. I am not sure.
Harley: 3noth, 3south 4 west 4 east names like that too know your cell
Billy: THEY HAD NUMBERS THATS HAD THEY HAD THEM / BLOCKS.
Jimmy: no names number and letter only thats what i seen

JM: Which types of inmates were housed in the different blocks?
Harry: Felons were housed in certain pods and misdemeanors in other pods. M-1 pod was where everyone goes first until you are tested for TB and other diseases. Then you are moved to whatever pod they have available. These inmates are ones doing time, and are a little bit more intimidating.
Qtip: Men and the dangerous criminals
Hanna: B-1 was the intake POD where you first come in to get accustomed to jail I guess. It's a short term POD for 7-10 days. This POD has two free phones so you can get out if thats possible.
DoneMyTime: Felons separate with bracelets labled felons from misdemeanors. Goes against innocent until proven guilty.
Linda: I COULDN'T TELL YOU BECAUSE I WAS ROOMED WITH MURDERS,BANK ROBBERS,CAR THIEVES SHOPLIFTERS AND SO ON.
Missy: WE WERE ALL HOUSED TOGETHER ONLY THE HIGH PROFILE INMATES WERE ON LOCK DOWN.
Josh: This is based on security level. High risk inmates are grouped together and wear orange uniforms. Lower risk inmates are grouped together and wear blue uniforms. There is not felony/misdemeanor segregation. Misdemeanors are indicated by blue arm bands and felonies by red arm bands. Both red and blue arm bands may be in the same Pod. The arm bands are the facility issued inmate identification.
Alex: Not sure. I did not exactly have the chance or ability to become more familiar with the cell blocks besides where I stayed.
Gary: a block is for the murders
Charlie: I only know of a few. A block was the worst, it was for violent crimes, gang related crimes, murder, attempted murder, things like that. B block was the second worse like sexual crimes. C block was for minor offenses and sentenced people. D block was for family related, domestic disturbances, and things like this. I cannot remember the rest, they had a whole section like this for women too.
Melissa: I was told anyone who is just entering jail would be place in my pod and then moved in a week or so. I do not know any further information.
Harley: all different types everywhere they tell u there are other with the same changer is u but it aint they put u anywhere that choose too not good at all
Billy: DIFERENT PEOPLE ALL KINDS, PEOPLE WHO HAVE DIFFERENT CHARGES , THE ONES WHO LIKE TOO FIGHT AND THE ONES WHO STAY RUNN THERE MOUTH STARTING FIGHT STAY AWAY FROM THEM PEOPLE
Jimmy: people who likes too fight , diferent blocks for different people thats how that hade it so it was ok with me just do what i was told... thats what i did

JM: What do you remember being the nicest and worst parts about the different blocks?
Harry: The nicest part about the pod is when you get sleep. I never could really get good sleep due to the fact you are awaken every 6 hours for a head count. You must get out of bed and stand up, get counted and then you are able to lie back down. The worst would probably be the showers and toilets. M pod was pretty nasty as it is mainly people getting off dope and/or sobering up. Once moved to another pod the inmates are a little cleaner and try to keep the facilities cleaner. Still it is absolutely nasty. You must wear your sandals at all times. There is no telling what you might catch barefoot. Sandals are a must in the shower.
Qtip: I was only in L3 and it was pretty easy going except when the inmates got into fights
Hanna: I would have to say the nicest part of B-2 which was the second block they took me too, was the fact that they didn't paint over the windows, so you had some visual stimulation. The worst part of the blocks was the bathrooms, beds, showers, and temperature.
DoneMyTime: the library is ok, the worst is the bathrooms and it is freezing cold
Linda: NOTHING NICE ABOUT THE BLOCKS. WORST PART HAVING TO SLEEP ON THE FLOOR IN THESE THINGS CALLED BOATS. THEY NEVER CLEAN THEM.
Missy: THERE ARE NO NICE PARTS ABOUT JAIL BUT IF I HAD TO SPEAK ON THAT I WOULD HAVE TO SAY WHEN THIS ONE GUARD USED TO COME IN OUR CELL BLOCK EVERY NIGHT AND READ US A BIBLE VERSE BEFORE WE WENT TO BED.BUT THE WORST PART WAS JUST ABOUT EVERY PART OF BEING IN JAIL.THE NOISE,THE DISRESPECT FROM THE GUARDS.
Josh: Worst: Lights always on, inmates always shouting, and total boredom (very little reading material unless you have it shipped to you and no television). Bunk beds were metal with a thin mattress. After a while, causes body pain and sleeping becomes difficult. Best: Pods M-2 and L-2 were more laid-back and the inmates were generally friendly. The showers are almost always available and you can shower alone.
Alex: The worst part was being unable to shower or use the bathroom without being visible to many strangers. The best part was that the beds were somewhat comfortable and the guards were friendly.
Gary: didnt care.
Charlie: I was only in D block thankfully. In the other blocks, or dorms as they were called, people were getting stabbed for food, stealing peoples stuff, rape was also very common in A and B blocks. The best thing about the dorm I was in was everyone was just trying to do their time or get their sentence and get out.
Melissa: I didn't switch pods, however most women were nice and wanted to talk. They shared their stories, and I was not scared anymore. Even after the fight. It's nice that there are separate showers and not one big room for showering. You do have privacy when you shower. The worst part would be the cheap toothpaste and wearing underwear and a sports bra several other woman have worn that you are issued. My uniform didn't smell absolutely terrible, but it wasn't fresh smelling like it was just washed. I could not smell any trace of fabric softener.
Harley: they make u clean every morning for u come out your cell . they give u treats if u win the clean cell but they really dont give u nothing they just tell u that too make u clean up everyday.. thats not good at all.... thats how they get u
Billy: THE NICEST WHEN YOUR PEOPLE COME TOO SEE YOU , YOU HAVE NOT SEEN THEM IN A WHILE U JUST GET SO HAPPY TILL ITS TIME FOR THEM TOO GO OR THERE TIME IS UP., THE WORST PART WAS TOO MANY FIGHTS GOING ON IN THE JAIL THAT AINT GOOD..
Jimmy: nothin at all everything about that jail is a mess i hate it all of it hate it the food and all sorry i feel that wey i just do nasty ass jail and the people that works there thats how i feel about the jail not kool at all
