Interview with Harry, Qtip, Hanna, DoneMyTime, Linda, Missy, Josh, Alex, Chrissy, Gary, Charlie, Melissa, Harley, Billy and Jimmy
JM: Did you always have access to necessary medications? Harry: I never took any meds but some people took them regularly. Qtip: yes Hanna: I did not take any medication, but yes there was access to
medication, but it wasn't always the same medication you had been
taking on the outside. DoneMyTime: if you request it Linda: NO. I HAD TO WRITE SEVERAL GRIEVENCE WHILE I WAS
THERE. I WAS DENIDE CARE SEVERAL TIMES. I
WITTNESSED A LADY GOING INTO CARDIAC ARREST AND
NOTHING WAS DONE UNTIL WE CALLED HER FAMILY. Missy: NO.IF YOU HAD A HEADACHE OR TOOTHACHE YOU HAD TO
WAIT UNTIL PILL CALL AND EVEN THEN YOU HAD TO FILL
OUT A FORM TO GET GENERIC BRAND TYLENOL. Josh: Yes, but one may miss if transferred to another
pod or if the courier is out of the prescribed
medication that day. Alex: I don't take any medication. Chrissy: YES Gary: yes Charlie: Only if it was prescribed to you by the jail doctor. Melissa: Absolutely not. I was never informed of this
information and I want to get this out there for
other people to know. I think this is very
important. The jail will not allow you to take any
prescription medications you bring to jail with
you. I understand that. I only brought my
prescription medications just to show which
medications I take, and so the jail would have all
of the pharmacy information and dosage
information. The jail doctor is suppose to call
your pharmacy and have your medications brought to
the jail. I have a prescription for Ativan and
Clonazepam. Despite each being low dosages, the
jail doctor does not "personally" approve of these
medications. Despite having legal prescriptions, I
was not allowed my medication simply because the
jail doctor does not like those medications. I did
not know this information until the jail nurse
informed me of this. I was on the verge of tears
and had an anxiety attack upon hearing this. I am
a doctoral student, first time offender, only have
reckless driving, no record of substance or
alcohol abuse, and I thought this was a violation
of my rights. Why didn't anyone inform me of this
information instead of learning this information
in jail? I was told I would not be receiving these
medications, despite the fact that I have a
prescription and an anxiety disorder. I was told I
would be given a substitute medication instead. I
visited the infirmary at the jail before entering
general population. They took my blood pressure
and asked for a urine sample. They wanted to take
my blood work, but I elected to not have my blood
drawn because this test was not for free. They
were going to charge me for the blood test. Harley: yes they will ask u then bring it around too u Billy: YES THEY BRING IT TOO U Jimmy: yes the bring it too u if u want it
JM: How did you get your medications? Harry: The nurse came around to each pod and called your name. Qtip: 1 a day Hanna: They came around twice a day for "pill call". DoneMyTime: did not need Linda: BOUGHT TYLENOL FROM THE JAIL STORE OR OTHER
SOURCES. Missy: DIDN'T HAVE ANY. Josh: Courier makes rounds. Chrissy: THEY CAME TO YOU WHEN IT WAS TIME TO TAKE YOUR
MEDS Gary: nurse Charlie: People would get medications when a nurse would come
around after or before every meal. This is the only
time when you could get medications. Melissa: I never received any medication and I was due for my
medication. Harley: the doc bring it around too your cell and call
your name if u miss your name call you want get
your meds u need they dont care Billy: THEY CALL YOUR NAME U GET IN LINE THEY MAKE SURE
ITS U THEN THEY GIVE U WATER AND YOUR PILL.. Jimmy: they came aroung too different blocks then
therey calll your name u get inline in take your
meds then u good
JM: What types of punishments were incurred for abuse of drugs? Did you ever witness this? Harry: You would spend time in the hole, and then appear in court for
additional charges. Qtip: i dont know i dont think u can abuse drugs Hanna: I never experienced anyone getting into trouble for this but I am
assuming they take you to the holding cell, and charge you
appropriately. DoneMyTime: don't know Linda: NONE THE INMATES GOT AWAY WITH SHARING PILLS. Missy: LOCK DOWN OR POSSIBLE ANOTHER CHARGE. Josh: If a Hearing Officer finds a violation, an inmate
may lose commissary, visitation, "good time
credit" or be transferred to a higher security
level pod or prosecuted. Charlie: I did see someone that was caught with some cocaine
in jail, they received an automatic 5 years in prison
for it. Melissa: I do not know this information. Harley: get locked in your room, 24 hours yes thats was
wrong or i seen people get more time... time
just sittin there Billy: YOU CAN GET MORE DAY OR GET LOCKED DOWN FOR
ABOUT A WEEK THATS NOT GOOD AT ALL SO BE GOOD Jimmy: u can get more time in jail or they will lock u
down a week or sum time longer its all on them
