Interview with John and Viola

JM: Did you have regular access to telephones?
: Not really. They issued each of us our own cell phones, so we just used them. It was a lot more convenient than having to get a guard to come over and escort you to the land line phone.
Viola: yes there is a telephone in the cell that you can use for as many collect calls as you want or use your calling cards you get on comonsarry

JM: What types of charges applied for calling people? How much money would you guess the average inmate spends per week on phone calls?
: Standard charges. They even charged us for damn text messages. Cheap government hacks!
Viola: I don't recall the charges i know they were through the roof though. $20 to $50 depending on who they call

JM: Did you need to buy phone cards to call out?
Viola: yes unless you called collect

JM: Did the jail screen your calls?
Viola: they say they are able to i don't know if they did or not.
