Interview with Ted, Lisa, Tania and Thomas

JM: Did you have regular access to telephones?
Ted: Yes.
Lisa: no everyweek you can make calls
Tania: yes there were two payphones accessed to at regulated times
Thomas: Yes but only if you freinds or family have set up an account rom the outside,,this means if you get thrown in there and you can't afford it your only phone calls will be paid for with your meals.

JM: What types of charges applied for calling people? How much money would you guess the average inmate spends per week on phone calls?
Ted: You call collect. I believe the calls may be $3 each. That's if you weren't on disciplinary action, then the phones and the television were cut off.
Lisa: about 100 week and family got to payfor it thour there credit card and it there cost
Tania: it was four bucks for nine minutes. the average inmate would probably spend twenty dollars per week on phone calls
Thomas: The ones who have the system to call probably spend an average of 40 to 80 dollars a week.

JM: Did you need to buy phone cards to call out?
Ted: No. Collect only.
Lisa: when first got no but at end yes you had to nuy card there like 10 a card and it a mess
Tania: no you used a pin and the receiver of the calls would pay for the calls
Thomas: Use to be able to not sure if they do now.

JM: Did the jail screen your calls?
Ted: Yes.
Lisa: yes everyday listen in your phonecalls
Tania: yes, for verbatim. all calls were monitored
Thomas: they say they do but how would you know.
