JM: What types of facilities were available to help pass the time? Richard: They had a tv in the main room. The had reading
material available as well. I tv a little. I mostly
just sat there and did nothing. Most of the inmate
talked a lot about everything. I found it to be
annoying. I dont know why anyone would want to act
like everything is cool. Dave: well there was different groups you could attend
and be part of and aa meetings once a week as
well as church service on the weekends on sunday
that you could ddo as well. Also you could meet
with a therapist once a week for up to an hour
as well Jon: One hour recreational time.
JM: Did you have regular access to the entertainment or was competition fierce? Give details. Richard: There wasnt any entertainment ever besides the tv
and reading material. I never felt the need to
compete foor anything. Everyone received equal
treatment and the way someone didnt get same is if
they were doing something wrong, like starting
fights and talking back to the guards. talking
back to the guards is not acceptable. Dave: well the only access to enertainment was a tv in
the day room that they controlled what station
it was on at all times, they could also turn it
off if we would be to loud or anything like
that. You were also allowed to play cards and
chess and stuff to. Jon: Only entertainment was magazines, news papers,
and portable radios.
JM: Did you have a hard time staying in shape while in jail? Richard: I didnt care about being in shape. But if I did then
there was a weight room. It was crowded most of the
time. I feel most people used it. show off and act
tough. Dave: no not at all, i actually got in better shape
while i was in there as i worked out every day Jon: No.
JM: How often did you get to go outside? What did you do outside if you were allowed to? If you were not allowed to go outside what could you do for exercise? Richard: I never whent outside. I wasnt around there long
enough. We had a larger activity room to walking
around in. A library and weight room and
entertainment system. Dave: I was never allowed to go outside at all, i
would run around the day room for exercise and
do push ups and sit ups in my room Jon: No going outside....
JM: Did the jail offer church services? If so, what were they like and when were they held? Richard: Yes the Jail did offer Church services for those
that wanted to attend them they were held in the
weight room. Dave: yes they did and they were held every sunday in
the gym there. They had a sermon and we sung
songs as well Jon: Yes. The experience was real and uncut truth.
