JM: What types of facilities were available to help pass the time? Ralph: They have gym pull up bars, matts, basketball
curt. You could also run... had to run around in
a cirlce 31 times to equal one mile. They had
lots of board games, cards, and TV in
common area. Also had some books and magazines. Alex: There was a gym with handball, basketball, and also
scheduled activities such as volley ball and cardio
workouts. There is also a pullup bar and a spot to do
dips. There are board games and also other
facilities like G.E.D. classes, Anger Management,
Church, AA, and they also offer a out patient
treatment program. There is two TV's to watch also.
JM: Did you have regular access to the entertainment or was competition fierce? Give details. Ralph: Generaly no. Everybody got their fair share. Alex: There was plenty of access to any of these. They had
plenty for all of us to do without there ever being any
type of issues. Most guys had there own deck of
playing cards they so they could play spades and
cribbage with whoever whenever they felt the need.
JM: Did you have a hard time staying in shape while in jail? Ralph: No they have a pretty great facility for working
out. Alex: No I did my own workouts in my room during lock
down then after dinner i would go in the gym and run
and do dips and pull ups.
JM: How often did you get to go outside? What did you do outside if you were allowed to? If you were not allowed to go outside what could you do for exercise? Ralph: I went out every day because I was working but
normaly people never got to go outdoor. The gym
had big windows so that's how they got fresh air. Alex: No we could not go outside anytime. We had full
access to the gym where we could work out there
anytime when we where outside our rooms.
JM: Did the jail offer church services? If so, what were they like and when were they held? Ralph: Every Sunday they were held in the common room
and they were mixed gender... the men and women
came. Most of the focus was on trying to hook up
and not the services. Alex: Church services where available at least once a week
usually twice. The volunteers who gave there time
freely where greatly appreciated and had a lot of
knowledge to share with us.
