JM: What clothes could you have brought in to wear in the jail (underwear, socks, etc.)? Victor: You could not have anything brought in. It was all
done through commissary. You wore an orange jump
suit. Mike: I was not allowed to have any of my own clothes. All
the clothing I had was issued to me from the jail.
JM: If you had a set uniform, what did it look like? Please be specific about each piece of clothing issued to you. Victor: A one piece orange jump suit with matching orange
shoes that are paper thin and hurt your feet. I am
unsure of if they had socks or undershirts at the
time that I came in. I recall having a lot of hand-
me-downs from other inmates. Mike: The main outergarment was an orange jumpsuit. You
were also issued a pair of sandals to wear in the
shower. Some inmates also wore them to walk around
inside. You had state issued boxer shorts, socks and
boots.
JM: Were there any assigned clothes in high demand that an inmate should look for when getting clothing assigned? Victor: You get jack shit. What you need to do is have money
sent in so you can buy plain white tee shirts,
boxers, and thermals. Mike: I have no idea. None that I am aware of.
JM: Was the clothing different between men and women? Victor: I guess women had a bra and panties, but we all wore
orange jump suits. They did cut the hot dogs and
bananas up before they sent them into the women's
unit. Mike: I saw women in orange jumpsuits. There were very few
times when you actually saw a woman. Only during
court appearances. As for their undergarments, I
imagine they were given clothing made for women.
