Interview with Drew and Matt

JM: Did you have regular access to telephones?
Drew: yes inmates have acces to telephones during regular hours.
Matt: I did have regular access, when they were on.

JM: What types of charges applied for calling people? How much money would you guess the average inmate spends per week on phone calls?
Drew: $1.83 a local call or 11 cents a minute for long distance. On average probably ten or more dollars a week on phone time is spent.
Matt: It was very expensive to make phone calls, my fiancee spent a lot of money talking to me. Id say she spent on average 60-100 dollars a week.

JM: Did you need to buy phone cards to call out?
Drew: No you can buy them on commissary but PCS also allows transfer of funds or money orders to available phone time.
Matt: No my fiancee bought phone time on the outside.

JM: Did the jail screen your calls?
Drew: Yes they can whenever they want to monitor them.
Matt: Im sure they did, they even give an automated warning that all calls would be monitored.
