Interview with Nicole

JM: Did you find it difficult to get along with other inmates? Please give examples to explain why you did or didn't.
Nicole: I got along with all the inmates i came in contact with. being in prison the woman had little families. i met a woman that took me under her wing Bayview as her daughte. she made sure i had my needs like my hair was done, girl things and ect

JM: What types of things did you have to do to avoid problems or fights with other inmates?
Nicole: well i like i said got along with all the inmate i came in contact with execpt this one girl she lied on me and said i was forcing her to give me her commissory which is a shopping list of things you can get on your buy say and the amount you can spend but from the inmates to the officers they know that was a lie

JM: Were you able to choose an inmate as your cellmate if you knew one? How often would your cellmate(s) change?
Nicole: No you couldnt choose your cellmate Bedford Hills Correctional Facility was what they called intake and i moved around there alot and that place was more strick. then i got moved to Taconic Correctional Facility there you had a little more freedom i got a job as mess hall worker which is where the inmates ate breakfast lunch and dinner and i got moved to Bayview Correctional Facility where you a lot more freedom that was just a building where your rec was on the roof that was cagged in and a lot of stairs so you stayed in shape
