Interview with Kathy, Cameron, Norm, Arturo and Isidra
JM: Did you always have access to necessary medications? Kathy: No if we were on any meds they would give them
to us Cameron: I don't take meds at all Norm: Yes, the jail delivered it daily. Arturo: I had no issues with medicaiton Isidra: I really don't know so I can't say cause I didn't take meds
JM: How did you get your medications? Kathy: They would bring them to us when we needed them
like I needed mine in the morning and in the
night Cameron: a nurse comes around with a cart and gives you
your meds if you have to take shots they will
call you down Norm: medication was delivered twice a day to get unit
and administered by a registered nurse. Also sick
calls and medical on site access was 24 hours a day. Arturo: the nurse would deliver the medication at nine
thirty in the morning and again at nine at night
that was ok Isidra: Well for those who did take meds there was always a nurse who
came around with a cart and their names on a med cup. And
would administer tge meds
JM: What types of punishments were incurred for abuse of drugs? Did you ever witness this? Kathy: No I never witness this, not in the cell nlock I
was in, and I did not hear anything when I was
there Cameron: they will keep lock you and possible you will get
a new charge also lose good time and yes I have
seen it happen to people Norm: Punishment for drug abuse was usually a week or
several in the box. The box was solitary
confinement in a separate unit without privileges
and no personal items or commissary food. Also
inmates stayed in there cells 23 hours a day when
in the box unit. Yes i witness lots of drug use by
way of crushing medication pills or trading for
other peoples drugs. Arturo: I did see drug use one individual went to the box
for selling his morphine to another inmate I
don't know what happened after that Isidra: I really don't know but I would suppose you would go to lock.
And nope I have never witnessed this occur
