Pre-sentencing

Interview with Sally and Marsha

JM: Tell us about the pre-sentencing process:
Sally: when i got the tickets i had to report to court they denied excusing or forgiving me this time because i had screwd up my driving record too many times so they sentnced me another court date to find out what my fines would be and if and when i would serve time and they took my license
Marsha: I had high anxiety during the whole ordeal and I could'nt wait to get out of it. I prepare with my lawyer. I was angry throughout the whole mess, but I keep my composure. I try to stay relax and calm, I used words of wisdom from Family and Friends.

JM: Did you have police stop by your house for questioning? If not please give us details on how you came to be arrested.
Sally: no i turned myself in
Marsha: My ex-husband was an abusive man and one night we had a fight. I call the cops because I was afaird of my life. they questions us. We got arrest because I use a weapon to defend myself. they did'nt see it as self defense, it was so unfear. the justice system

JM: What was court like? Please give as many details as you recall.
Sally: my lawyer did all the talking i sat shook my head or said yes or no, the jjudge lookked tire and just wanted to be done with it but also wanted to make an example of me. practically empty courtroom , i was nervous hot and sweating
Marsha: Its horrible, the judge is rule and unpredictable. My lawyer did'nt know what he was doing. It was so boring I wanted to sleep. I saw my ex-husband there and I wanted leap at him, it not easy seeing the suspect in the same court room as you. But I bare it all.

JM: What were your original charges? What did you end up being convicted of?
Sally: driving under suspended license multiple times and being pulled oveer
Marsha: Domestic Violence and use of a weapon. (It was a umbralla)
