Visitor Policy

Interview with Zach

JM: How often could you receive visitors?
Zach: You could get a couple of vists per week from the same person, but I don't think there was a restriction on the number of visits you could get. If you were causing too much of a problem, they could restrict your visits or force you to have them behind closed glass. Then you would talk with a phone.

JM: Was the check-in process lengthy for those who came to see you?
Zach: It would usally take about twenty minutes to check in, but if there were no openings, you could not get a visit at all. They could not bring anything in, except bottles or diapers for a baby. They could strip search your visitors if they suspected something so many people would not bother even coming.

JM: What was the visiting environment like?
Zach: You would sit across a table from your loved ones with everyone else without being able to touch them. You could only get thirty minutes to see them and most people didn't even want to visit. The guards would be stnading right there making sure you didn't get anything passed to you, or become too violent with your visitor.
