Good Behavior

Interview with Jen, Karen and Will

JM: Did you get off early based on good behavior?
Jen: yes
Karen: No I did not get off early. I served my entire time.
Will: I got probation based on the fact that this was my first offense. All the deputies and mental health staff kept telling me I would be lucky if I got 2 years in prison.

JM: What is the most time off you can receive for good behavior?
Jen: 4 days a month
Karen: I do not know the answer to this question.
Will: no clue

JM: What types of actions do you need to avoid in order to get time off? Did you ever witness somebody losing time off for good behavior?
Jen: fights, disagreements with other inmates or deputys, doing what your told to do,
Karen: You need to avoid fighting and arguing. You must not talk back to Correction Officer's and you need to follow the rules like making you bed.
Will: I would imagine altercations with the deputies and other staff members. But judging from what I heard county jail and prison are 2 different animals.
