Interview with Dodo and Misty

JM: Did you have regular access to telephones?
Dodo: there was access but limitations applied, such as time.
Misty: Yes during times that aren't locked down

JM: What types of charges applied for calling people? How much money would you guess the average inmate spends per week on phone calls?
Dodo: All phone calls had to go through a third-party phone service that the receiver had to set up, and have a deposit of money/credit account on phone. a 5-minute phone call was about $10.00. inmates discovered a workaround, to talk in between pauses, making multiple calls to communicate.
Misty: People spent About fifteen dollars for a fifteen minute call. Sometimes the phone would disconnect and you would still have to pay.

JM: Did you need to buy phone cards to call out?
Dodo: no phone cards were not used
Misty: Yes. Your family must put money on the phone in order for you to use the phone.

JM: Did the jail screen your calls?
Dodo: I am not sure about this.
Misty: Yes the jail listens to all your calls
