time. Misty: Yes during times that aren't locked down
JM: What types of charges applied for calling people? How much money would you guess the average inmate spends per week on phone calls? Dodo: All phone calls had to go through a third-party
phone service that the receiver had to set up, and
have a deposit of money/credit account on phone. a
5-minute phone call was about $10.00. inmates
discovered a workaround, to talk in between pauses,
making multiple calls to communicate. Misty: People spent About fifteen dollars for a fifteen minute call.
Sometimes the phone would disconnect and you would still
have to pay.
JM: Did you need to buy phone cards to call out? Dodo: no phone cards were not used Misty: Yes. Your family must put money on the phone in order for you
to use the phone.
JM: Did the jail screen your calls? Dodo: I am not sure about this. Misty: Yes the jail listens to all your calls
