Interview with Johnny

JM: Did you find it difficult to get along with other inmates? Please give examples to explain why you did or didn't.
Johnny: I did not find it hard to get along. Initially I remained quiet and stayed to myself but the few guys I entered prison with had began interactions with each other so i began talking with them as well. We discussed our sentences and crimes then lifestyles we were living before jail.

JM: What types of things did you have to do to avoid problems or fights with other inmates?
Johnny: Respect is huge in Prison. You must show respect in order to receive respect. Basically, wait your turn, be assertive, and refrain from being reckless toward others and you will be okay. Also, the crimes i was convicted of were "acceptable" among the prison population. Certain offences can cause the inmate issued among the population.

JM: Were you able to choose an inmate as your cellmate if you knew one? How often would your cellmate(s) change?
Johnny: No, each of my cellmates were chosen by the correction officers. "Bunkies" were subject to change on a daily basis in order to maintain the safety and functionality of the facility.
