Interview with Matt and Johnny
JM: How often could you receive visitors?
Matt: weekends
Johnny: Visits were permitted Saturdays, Sundays, and any
major holliday from 8AM-3:30PM. Maximum of 3 at a
time
JM: Was the check-in process lengthy for those who came to see you?
Matt: yes
Johnny: Yes there was pre-visit screening and 2 forms of ID
was always required. Visitors were subject to
personal searches before entering the visit room. As
made to wait sometimes for hours before the inmate
was notified of a visit.
JM: What was the visiting environment like?
Matt: loud
Johnny: Very chaotic and hectic. Many inmates and their
families had to wait in line to get food and drinks
out of the vending machines. Visitor also could not
leave during the counts that occurred throughout
visit hours. This deterred many family from visiting
their loved ones for long durations of time.
