Leisure Time

Interview with Lois

JM: What types of facilities were available to help pass the time?
Lois: We had the option to get out of the cell once per week to go into the church cell and get our praying in and talked with the preacher about the Old Testament. In between times we were allowed to go into a different cell that was set up to play basketball and other sports

JM: Did you have regular access to the entertainment or was competition fierce? Give details.
Lois: For my first 2 months that i was in there the only entertainment was reading books that was required to be religious like the bible or The Left behind series and in those books I found what i was looking for but then a tv was added along with cable

JM: Did you have a hard time staying in shape while in jail?
Lois: Yes it was hard trying to find enough physical activity while in jail. A couple of the guys tried to create a curl bag but when the guards seen it then it became confiscated

JM: How often did you get to go outside? What did you do outside if you were allowed to? If you were not allowed to go outside what could you do for exercise?
Lois: If we got to go outside then often times it was just to make the trip across the grounds to go see the nurse or to buy a candy bar while there lol

JM: Did the jail offer church services? If so, what were they like and when were they held?
Lois: yes the jail had a couple guys come in every Sunday and one carried a guitar and was in charge of the song and music part while the other guy preached the word from the good book
