Closing Advice

Interview with Tawnie

JM: What else would you want a friend or family member to know if they have a loved one going to this jail?
Tawnie: Yes, please make sure your loved one has money on books so they can buy calling card & commisary if necessary. You get a limited amount of writing materials in there (pencils paper), so if you want them to wrote, provide stamps, envelopes, etc., Write them and send pictures and encouragement. Be supportive. Let them know you care.

JM: If somebody knows they will be serving time in this jail what is your advice to them?
Tawnie: Mind your own business, keep to yourself, hire a lawyer if you have money.

JM: Please list any other jail or rehab facilities you have been to.
Tawnie: I've been to American Behavioral Health System, inpatient lock- down treatment center in Spokane, WA, which as much, if not more, like jail than it was treatment. I've been to 5 inpatient treatment programs in my life, and ABHS is not at all like the treatment I'm accustomed to (Sundown M Ranch, & others). I considered ABSH to be incarceration because it was. They have treatment while your there though, and it's nicer than jail, but it's still incarceration, no doubt about it.
