Leisure Time

Interview with Tawnie

JM: What types of facilities were available to help pass the time?
Tawnie: TV mostly. library - rarely (even though I asked daily), reading (can't read if you don't have access to the books!!!!), a bible, church.

JM: Did you have regular access to the entertainment or was competition fierce? Give details.
Tawnie: regular access, but no choice in what was watched (too much competition, why bother). I mostly read books, once I got some.

JM: Did you have a hard time staying in shape while in jail?
Tawnie: Not in upstairs block (walking/pacing). Downstairs everyone just layed there and slept most of time, because you couldn't do anything else.

JM: How often did you get to go outside? What did you do outside if you were allowed to? If you were not allowed to go outside what could you do for exercise?
Tawnie: once or twice a week when I was there.

JM: Did the jail offer church services? If so, what were they like and when were they held?
Tawnie: yes. once a week. depended on who brought it in, we just listened to a preacher read from bible mostly, it was boring and dumb and a way to get out of cell.
