Inmates

Interview with John

JM: Did you find it difficult to get along with other inmates? Please give examples to explain why you did or didn't.
John: No I did not. You see I see it as I can get along with who I choose to and I try to keep the Peace and order in a situation like that. I try to remember everyone is away from there loved ones and so each person is stressed and I understand it is my fault so I cant take it out on others.

JM: What types of things did you have to do to avoid problems or fights with other inmates?
John: I really just stay to myself and read books and try not to get involved with many people.I would also sleep a lot and try to stay up at night and read while everyone else was asleep. I also take up working out for three days on and then one day off. I guess whatever I could do to stay busy is what I did that worked for me.

JM: Were you able to choose an inmate as your cellmate if you knew one? How often would your cellmate(s) change?
John: I have been able to at times and they would only change a couple times during my stay.My cellmates usually were like myself with the same kind of charges and also our personalities were a ot alike so being laid back and respectful we were able to keep the cell mates we wanted.
