Interview with John

JM: Did you have regular access to telephones?
John: You do if you have someone who can afford the money the company charges for the collect calls and it really should be illegal and that is something that should be looked into. It is outrageous!

JM: What types of charges applied for calling people? How much money would you guess the average inmate spends per week on phone calls?
John: The cheapest phone call is $14.99 and that is a one time fee. The rest will be like $17.00 and you must deposit enough for two calls at minimum in order to be able to make calls. I had to set up the phone for my girlfriend recently so this is the truth.

JM: Did you need to buy phone cards to call out?
John: They did not have that option last I checked. You had to have someone on the outside with a credit card or western union,moneygram, etc.

JM: Did the jail screen your calls?
John: All calls are subject to recording it says before each call.
