Interview with Ron, Candice and Cliff

JM: Did you have regular access to telephones?
Ron: I had access to a payphone, but it is very expensive to use them to call someone.
Candice: Yes but phone calls are expensive
Cliff: yes i did from morning to night

JM: What types of charges applied for calling people? How much money would you guess the average inmate spends per week on phone calls?
Ron: It's $5 to talk for 15 minutes.
Candice: You can buy phone cards but I guess people would spend at least 40 dollars a week on calls
Cliff: they had collect phone calls only. i would say around $30-$50 im not really sure

JM: Did you need to buy phone cards to call out?
Ron: Yes, you purchase phone cards on commissary.
Candice: It is cheaper than calling collect but you don't have to
Cliff: no i didnt made mine collect

JM: Did the jail screen your calls?
Ron: I don't know. They had it posted that they could but I don't know if they did.
Candice: I think they do sometimes
Cliff: they said they did dont no
