Sentencing

Interview with Jerry and Pat

JM: How long was your sentencing for?
Jerry: Parole board sentenced me to 60 days with half. I did 27 of mandatory 30 day sentence. Yuba County gives every single inmate at this jail a 'three day kick'. In other words everyone get 3 days early off their sentence. My second violation was for possession of alcohol and use of alcohol. I did 21 days and on the day I saw the judge she gave me time served and mandatory Alcoholics Anonymous for two months going three times a week.
Pat: I was offered 4 years but I took a deal that left me with 3 years felony probation 6 months in the county jail and a strike on my record.

JM: Did you spend time in a holding cell after your sentencing? If so, what was that like? If you didn't where did they they take you instead?
Jerry: After court I was immediately taken back to my housing area. because this jail is so small it is rare to be sitting in any holding cell for a period of over 30 minutes in between moving about the jail.
Pat: Yes I was in a holding cell for probably close to 2 1/2 hours after sentencing,It was awful to have to sit in that nasty stinky area crowded with other inmates realizing your future was over it would have ben easier to go straight back to my cell to deal with what I was going threw.
